HOUSE APPROVES BILL 14 OR THE SIM CARD REGISTRATION

The House of Representatives under the leadership of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez today begins its plenary deliberation on House Bill (HB) No. 14 or the proposed “Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Card Registration Act.”

HOUSE APPROVES BILL 14 OR THE SIM CARD REGISTRATION

House Committee on Information and Communications Technology Chairman Tobias Reynald Tiangco (Lone Dist., Navotas City) took the floor to answer interpellations on the said measure which aims to require the registration of SIM cards and regulate the sale and distribution of the same.

HB No. 14 is principally authored by Speaker Romualdez, Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, and TINGOG Party-list Representatives Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude A. Acidre in pursuit of efforts to prevent the proliferation of mobile phone scams and data breaches as well as to assist law enforcement agencies in resolving crimes involving the use of mobile phone units.
